Many individuals can successfully be treated without the use of medication. The use of certain medications, however, is increasingly popular these days. In Dr. Tempinski's experience, the decision to use medication is best made following evaluation by a mental health professional. The reason for this is that while medication is essential in some cases, in other cases it can interefere with and/or impede the individual's psychological recovery.
Whatever the individual's needs and wishes with regard to medication, these are best discussed with the therapist toward the end of an initial assessment. The final decision always rests with the individual.
Dr. Tempinski works in conjunction with several psychiatrists who specialize in psychopharmacology and will see her clients solely for the purpose of medication needs.
